Importing Updates from Catalog - The Service is Unavailable RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to import a number of older updates from the catalog and get "The Service is Unavailable"

    I seem to be able to connect to the catalog occasionally, but can never get to the basket.

  • Hi CamecoKev,

    1. I test it in my lab, and it works well, I could import update into WSUS via MUC;

    2. Please check what is version of the WSUS server, if it's not the latest version, please install KB2938066 to upgrade to .274;

    WSUS 3.0 (SP2): Build 3.2.7600.226
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2720211: Build 3.2.7600.251
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2734608: Build 3.2.7600.256
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2828185: Build 3.2.7600.262
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2938066: Build 3.2.7600.274

    3. Also check the firewall rules, you may turn off the firewall temporarily to test if it could work.

    4. Besides, when we import updates, we need to click "Update">"Action", then import update.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • I have updated to 274, and am getting the same problem.

    I have tried with firewall on and off with the same problem.

    I am not sure what you mean by "Update">"Action"

    Another thing you can try is to check to see what version of Internet Explorer you are using. I have sometimes had to install a newer version of IE on the server before I can use Microsoft Update Catalog. Just a thought.

    When import updates into WSUS via MUC:

    Besides, I agree with antwesor, please also check the IE version.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
