Outlook vs Hotmail Email Problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a hotmail email account (myname@hotmail.com) that when I set it up on Outlook 2013 automatically configures to looks very different (outlook_16letters&digets@outlook.com).  When I select an outgoing mail message the 'from' address looks normal (myname@hotmail.com) but when it is received the 'from' address in the outlook name (outlook_16letters&digets@outlook.com).  Also, if the recipient tries to reply back to me the outlook name is populated in the email (outlook_16letters&digets@outlook.com) and the message is rejected.

  • You have posted in an Exchange 2010 forum but there's no evidence of an Exchange 2010 server in your question, just Hotmail.  Therefore, I recommend that you post this in the outlook.com / live.com / Hotmail Forum:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum?auth=1

  • Hi ,

Please check the account name as below to see what’s your account name.

If it’s not your account name, change it with the steps in following article:

    Hope it helps.
