Does AD replication configuration required in SCOM 1801/ 1807 RRS feed

  • Hello,

All the "configuration options" described in the management pack document are optional and not required for a typical operating environment, hence the reason why it is located under "Optional Configuration".

So unless you want to monitor your Active Directory (AD) replication, you don't have to configure it.

However if you do want to monitor the AD replication you should configure the monitoring for it.

  • Thanks Leon..

I am aware that if replication required then need to perform the replication configuration.

But in System Center Management pack for Windows server 2016 Active Directory, Domain services guide has not mentioned about optional configuration for Replication, that was mentioned in System Center Management pack for Active Directory for operations Manager 2012

My question was without doing that optional configuration for replication how would replication related data populated in Actie Directory --> Replication

    Regards,

    SK

  • In the newer Active Directory (AD) management pack (Microsoft System Center Management Pack for ADDS), the AD replication is enabled by default and there is no need to configure anything.

You can find more information about what rules/monitors etc are enabled over here:
Active Directory Domain Services for Microsoft Windows Server 2016 (Monitoring)

  • Hi,

For the MP for ADDS, there are some changes. Replication Monitoring replaced with the following monitors:

    o AD Replication Queue Monitor

    o AD Show Replication Check

    o Replication Partner Count Monitor

    o Replication Consistency Monitor

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/allthat/2017/01/03/microsoft-system-center-management-pack-for-adds/

Based as I know, we just need to make sure the related replication monitors are enabled to meke the replication monitoring working.

    Hope the information can help.

    Best regards.

    Crystal

  • At first, Active Directory® Management Pack (AD MP) and Active Directory and Domain Services (ADDS) Management Pack are different product.
Migration from the Active Directory® Management Pack (AD MP) to Active Directory, Domain Services (ADDS) Management Pack is not supported, but a side-by-side installation of these two products is supported. As a result, ADDS MP does not need additional configuration for AD Management Pack.
