  • Email is already purged/deleted due to the retention limits set on the mailbox database.

The only option is to see if you have backups taken on that date when the email was deleted.

If you have backups then you may consider doing one of the below:

    1. Create Recovery database

    2. Restore Backup to RDB

    3. Use Restore-Mailbox or New-MailboxRestoreRequest to restore the email to same mailbox or to additional mailbox specifying -TargetMailbox and -TargetFolder Switch.

Other option you may try is:

    1. once you have the EDB File which holds the deleted email, you may use 3rd party tools which has the feature to extract Data to PST reading from EDB.

  • So, is this your final retention policy configuration or you have changed this default policy ?

If you are still running with default retention policy, I suspect that you will not be able to restore deleted emails that is deleted one year ago.

Even, any third party could be helpful to restore emails if you are under retention policy.

For reference, you can visit on this link to understand the terms in better way : http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/restore-deleted-items-in-outlook-HA010355039.aspx

  • Hi Parvez Islam

Because you are running with default retention policy and has expired .you cannot recover your user mailbox directly.

You will solve it by third party soft using storage medium.

You can refer to the following link
