Display Computer Name on the Logon Screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking for a way to show the Computer Name someplace on the logon screen, so that I don't have to log all the way into the system to figure out which machine I'm using. Maybe replacing the jpg background with something that has %COMPUTERNAME% in it?  (Supporting multiple identical laptops, and looking for something more sophisticated than a sticker).

  • Hi Dale Petersen,

    Thanks for the post!

I think this tool can help you do that. See BgInfo:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897557

  • Miya, If you have a detailed description of how to use BGInfo to display info on Server 2008 and Windows 7 logon screens, I would be very interested!
