Windows disk management sees the new disk size but DPM 2012 not able to add additional storage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Day

I presented a 10TB hard disk to the DPM server and it picked it up and could backup to it. There was insufficient space so I added additional 7TB but DPM cant see it to add it to the disk in DPM 2012. In disk Management I can see the 7TB and it is online. I could create a drive and copy data to the drive that works fine, cause I thought it could be that the drive was corrupted or wrongly presented. Here is my output as well:

    C:\Windows\system32>diskpart.exe

    Microsoft DiskPart version 6.2.9200

    Copyright (C) 1999-2012 Microsoft Corporation.
    On computer: GEMS-DPM01

    DISKPART> list disk

  • A couple of questions about some basic things that I am sure you already covered.

In Windows disk management is your disk (the 7TB) Dynamic and unallocated?

Did you run Rescan in DPM under management>disks?

Does the "Total Capacity" for the disk in DPM show only 10TB?

  • I can even create it as a drive and copy data on to the new created drive. i dont get it why it is not picking up in DPM disk management. I even check the event logs for error but there is none.
