Remove Project Server 2016 component to stop licensing warning RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

As SharePoint 2016 now includes Project Server (requires an additional CAL) it is causing me some problems with our Software Asset Management system. Basically as part of its scans it is reporting that we have an unlicensed Project Server. I haven't created the Project Server service application, it's just what was installed as part of SharePoint installation.

The SAM provider (Snow) say that we need to uninstall it some how as we will run the risk of this coming up during an audit.

Does anyone know if this can be removed, or if SAM vendors are just being slow at updating their detection methods, which should be looking for a project server service, not just the binaries.

    Thanks

  • As it's now a built in component of SharePoint 2016, it can't be removed.  Your SAM vendors are slow...
