windows media player cd burning problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • always used WMP to burn cd's on other computer... downloaded WMP 11 on my xp pro spare computer in another office, and it won't burn... doesnt seem to recognize the cd drive so burn button is "greyed" out. Tried using different cd's, but no change. Have a stack of new cdr's. Could it be due to going from mp3's in library to audio? Want to load some new tunes to play in my car.

  • First check using third part app like Nero, and try burning a CD

    Cannot burn files to CD

Windows Media Player cannot burn the selected files to the CD. To fix the problem, do one or more of the following, and then try again:

    • Verify that the CD burner is connected properly.

    • Clean the disc and verify that it is not damaged.

    • Try a different brand of blank discs.

    • If another program is currently burning files to the CD, wait until the burning process is complete.

    • Quit other programs that might be using the CD burner.

    • Restart Windows Media Player.

    • Restart your computer.

    • Select a slower recording (write) speed for the CD burner.

    • Use the Windows Error-checking tool to check for file system errors and bad sectors on your hard disk. For more information about the Error-checking tool, see Windows Help and Support.
