Can i install Wsus 4.0 on Server 2016 in 2008R2 level domaine ? RRS feed

  • Hello all,

    All of my infrastructure is on 2008R2, i want to know if i can add Windows Server 2016 to install Wsus 4.0 for Windows 10 update with fully fonctionality ok ?   

    Or maybe is necessary to have forest level 2016 ? i hope no ...

    Put the conclusion first, you could do that without any problem. Do not need to raise the forest level.
     

    • Within the Windows server 2016, the version of WSUS is 10.0.
    • For the best practice, do not install WSUS on a DC.
    • The function of WSUS has little to do with the infrastructure of the domain.

  • Yes, no problem with installing Server 2016 in a 2008 environment for WSUS. As a member server there's nothing you need to do special for this to work.
