New HTML5 portals with Hotfix 2 - Deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there any issues with installing the new portal on new servers and running side by side with the old SharePoint based portal until we are ready to cut-over?

  • Both are supported to run parallel (on different machines) connected to same SM Deployment.

  • Hi,

As Abhishek said, only If you are installing the new Portal on the same server as old SharePoint Portal: This release of the Self-Service Portal is not compatible with—nor is upgrade possible from—the old Self-Service Portal in System Center Service Manager 2010 or in System Center Service Manager 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Service Manager 2012 R2. You must uninstall older versions of the Self-Service Portal before you deploy the new Self-Service Portal in System Center 2012 – Service Manager.

Got a bit confused here. So you can have the Silverlight portal and the HTML5 portal running at the same time and connected to the same SM database as long as they are on separate servers?

If this can be done then it will save me a lot of time since I had already planned to uninstall my old portal which is running on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
