On Premise Skype for Business Server 2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just finished configuring Skype for Business Server 2015 (on premise), and have a couple of questions.

How do clients connect to this?
What DNS do I need to put in place?

All I can find online is the DNS to connect to Office 365 Skype for Business so I'm struggling a little bit.

We do have an Office 365 plan, however this does not include the Skype for Business service, however I have downloaded the Skype app which came with it.

When I connect I get the "check your DNS" error message, which then links me to a KB article with how to point it to their online servers....not what I'm after!

  • What do you mean with external facing?

The FE server has to be installed internal and the Edge server on the DMZ.

The SIP domain should always be a public domain.

  • Craig,

Here is a good article for you to read on setting up the DNS settings. This is for Lync 2013 server. It is basically the same though. Good luck mate.

  • Just as a note, the simple URL's are set to .local.

The server is externally facing. Should we change the topology and have things point to [domain].com even though the forest is .local?

  • Thank you for that.

I have put in all of the DNS records (apart from autodiscover because this is being used by Exchange), however I still cant connect.

For Skype for Business Server 2015, what app is best to use with it? I have Skype for business Client (from our Office 365 Package) and Skype for business Client (2015

    ).

  • do you have Lyncdiscover.domain.com record which is pointing to your reverse proxy server ? ( autodiscover for Exchange EWS as its pointing to exchange its good )
