WebDav Very Slow on Windows 7 Pro

Question
-
Environment:
- Hosted SharePoint 2010
- Two laptops on a Windows Domain: 1) Windows 7 Pro 32-bit & IE11 and 2) Windows 7 Pro 64-bit & IE11.
Problem:
WebDAV is VERY slow on Windows 7 only. When using WebDAV on Windows 8 or using the web portal (browser), file uploads are very fast. We've performed extensive testing as follows with no success.
- Installed or confirmed SP1 was installed
- Disabled "Automatic Detect Settings" within Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings.
- Forced port 443 within URL upon mapping a drive (ex. <URL>:443)
- Logged in using the local administrator's profile
- Detached computer from domain and used the local administrator's profile

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately, this did not resolve our issue. We also could not post the data for security reasons. Our client decided to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 as their solution. Appreciate everyone's help.

Hi Wleblanc,
“WebDAV is VERY slow on Windows 7 only. When using WebDAV on Windows 8 or using the web portal (browser), file uploads are very fast.”
Do you mean only the uploading operation in WebDAV of Windows 7 is slow or the whole WebDav performance is slow ?
Please check this service ”Webclient” from the service control .
I noticed that the process of creating a WebDAV connection is a little different in Windows 7 and Windows 8 .Someone indeed informed the information that this service will affect the WebDAV performance. Here are links for reference:

Thank you Yolanda for the resources and information. Unfortunately, I've tried both suggestions and did not resolve my issue. I checked that the WebClient service was running and restarted it with no luck. I've even tried downloading and running AnyClient (WebDAV) with no luck.
If I upload the exact same file using Windows 8 or 8.1, in this case it's a 7MB PDF, it uploads in about 1 minute. Whereas in Windows 7 it will take 6-7 minutes at best.
I've read that this issue existed in Windows Vista but was fixed with a "hotfix" provided by Microsoft. However, this same fix does not seem to be available for Windows 7.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and was able to resolve?

Hi WLeblanc,
Please ensure all the Windows 7 machines have got the latest update.“I've read that this issue existed in Windows Vista but was fixed with a "hotfix" provided by Microsoft”
To get a better understanding of your issue ,would you mind to share the hotfix with us ? It will be much appreciated if you shared more details of your symptom compared with the hotfix.“in this case it's a 88Mb PDF, it uploads in about 1 minute. Whereas in Windows 7 it will take 6-7 minutes at best.”
Have you tried to upload a smaller file to have a check, it is better to choose a file smaller than 50MB ?
If this is the issue, I recommend you to change the registry key “FileSizeLimitInBytes” to have a check according to this hotfix.
You receive a folder copy error message when you try to download a file that is larger than 50000000 bytes from a Web folder
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900900Meanwhile ,please compare your symptom with this hotfix .If it is the issue ,try the hotfix to have a check .
FIX: A hotfix is available that enables WebDAV to store the properties of file resources by using NTFS alternate data streams in IIS 7.5

Hi MeipoXu,
I've edited my previous reply. The file listed above was actually a 7MB file. A larger file of 88MB was also tested as well with the same results. Upload from a Windows 8 or 8.1 machine took around 2 minutes versus 10 minutes or more using Windows 7.
Appreciate the links you provided but neither apply to my issue. I neither receive an error upon upload nor do I have access to IIS on the server as it's a Hosted SharePoint solution.
The "hotfix" I previously came across was http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15123. It fixed the "slowness" some users were experiencing on Windows Vista.
Again, I appreciate your help and look forward to a resolution on my issue.

Hi WLeblanc,
Based on your description, I suppose we could improve the performance on the nic. Currently I am providing the suggestions as below:
Please run the following command by administrator. Then to see if the issue persists.
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=none
netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled
netsh int tcp set global timestamps=disabledTCP Offloading/Chimney & RSS…What is it and should I disable it?http://blogs.technet.com/b/onthewire/archive/2014/01/21/tcp-offloading-chimney-amp-rss-what-is-it-and-should-i-disable-it.aspx

Hi WLeblanc,
This is Steven again. After doing some research, we found several similar cases in our database, and it was told a known issue. Based on my experience, we suggest gathering the network traces for underlying analysis. Hence, please help us to collect the traces at your earliest convenience.
NETMON:
1. Download Microsoft Network Monitor Tool from the following link and install it on the two machines.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f
2. Start Network Monitor at "Start" ->"Program"-> "Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4" -> "Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4" on the two machines.
3. On the left-panel, check the "LAN connection" and uncheck the other unnecessary connections on the two machines.
4. Click "Tools", click "Options", switch to the "Capture" tap, and set the "Temporary capture file size (MB)" to 200 on the two machines.
5. Click "New Capture", click "Start" on the Capture menu in the two Network Monitor windows.
6. Now from the client, to do this:
7. Open the cmd as administrator and type in the following command:
nbtstat -RR
ipconfig /flushdns
8. Reproduce this issue.
9. Click "Stop" on the Capture menu, and click "File"->"Save as" to save the captured file. Please send the files to me.
Note: Please let me know: 1. The IP addresses of the client and the server.Best regards,
Steven Song
