Can't burn it to DVD RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded the Beta and am using Nero 6 to burn the compilation.  It burns successfully except I get Read errors on the 3 dvd's I tried around 56% of the way.  I noticed on the burn that it is using the ISO 9660 and not the 13346. Is this the problem? Also how do I correct it?  What has everyone else used to successfully burn the DVD?

  • I tried Sonic 7, three dvds failed at 95% and Nero 6 Ultra, one dvd burnt with no problem, but it wouldn't boot. Finally figured out the iso was corrupt. Redownloaded, it burnt just fine and installed with little problems.

  • I used Nero 6 Ultra to burn the image - standard stock settings. From the SmartStart option, I selected burn an image. From the Nero app, selected Recorder | Burn Image and selected the file. From there, it was just a matter of setting the burn speed to the lowest speed (per Microsoft's recommendation) and let 'er rip.

As far as installing Vista without burning... You'd need something that can open an ISO file as a virtual drive. From there, you will need to copy the files to a folder or partition and you'll need to run the setup.exe from there. The only issue - you can only do an upgrade if you run it from within Windows. Don't think there's any option to boot XP or 2k just so far and have the Vista setup kick in.

  • To mount an ISO image on the host operating system, take a look at virtual cd/dvd-rom emulators such as:

              DAEMON Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/)

              IsoBuster (http://www.isobuster.com/)

              Virtual CloneDrive (http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html)

              WinImage (http://www.winimage.com/)

    just to name a few.

    HTH.
