  • I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit installed on my laptop.  I want to create a Windows 7 virtual PC.  In order to install the operating system on the virtual PC, I need to provide an ISO image, but it is complaining that the iso image that I provided is 64 bit rather than 32 bit.  It appears that Windows Virtual PC only allows 32 but virtual PCs.  The problem is that I only have 64 bit windows 7 iso.  Do I have to purchase a 32 bit version of windows 7 just for my virtual pc?

  • Yes, Virtual PC only supports 32bit virtual machines.

You can look at VMware Workstation or Player, or VirtualBox if you want to run 64bit VMs.
