RasClient - error 1931

  • Hi,

I have a VPN connection type IKEv2. This connection was working without any problem for a long time.

Now it's not working any more and I have and event viewer this error: CoId={9F462888-8B6A-4064-A54A-7FD7D1EAB9F9}: The user SYSTEM dialed a connection named XYZ which has failed. The error code returned on failure is 1931.

    What this code means?

  • Hi ,

Please first check the event ID.

Did the error occurr on all client system?

If this problem occurred on specific client system, try to temporally turn off firewall and other anti-virus software, then try to connect again.

As far as I know, error code 1931 means the context has expired and can no longer be used.

  • Hi Christian

Were able to figure out the problem with your VPN. I'm experiencing the same issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Make sure all IPSec services (like IKEEXT) are not disabled and running.

  • I was trying to use AlwaysOn VPN and was getting this error. The client reported: "The context has expired and can no longer be used"

It turned out that the IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules service was disabled on my PC for some reason. All I had to do was set it to automatic and start it.

Thank you kazakevichilya for the tip.
