Folder Icons Missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently installed a desktop theme which turned out to be incompatible with Windows Vista. After I uninstalled the theme, I realized that all of the icons that used to be shown to designate a file folder were gone and were swapped with a default file image.

    Here is an example:

    I was trying to figure out how to change these back to the way they were. I also noticed that my Recycle Bin was missing the normal icon as well, and has been changed to the same one the folders now have.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.

    Regarding this issue, I'd like to propose the following methods.

    Method 1. Perform a System Restore if you own the previous point before installing the desktop theme.

    System Restore

    ==========

    1)     Click Start; click All Programs; click Accessories; click System Tools; and click System Restore. The System Restore user interface should appear.

    2)     Click Next.

    3)     From the restore points available, select an appropriate restore point before problem occurs.

    4)     Click Next twice and the restore process will run and your system will restart automatically.

    Method 2. Create a new profile and transfer your data to this new profile.

    Hope this helps.
