Why does opening LOCAL office documents prompts for SharePoint login? RRS feed

  • There are many similar topics on this, but none that I can find that are quite the same (that I can see).

    I am the admin for a SharePoint 2010 site at my company.

    However, anytime I open a local office document on my PC, I get prompted to logon to SharePoint - even though the local document has nothing to do with our SharePoint site (and certainly did not originate from SP).  This includes powerpoint, word and excel - and probably every other office product I have.

    I repeat, these local documents are not attached to SP in any way shape or form. 

    It seems to prompt every 30 minutes or so until I finally logon.  I actually get prompted twice, once for the main site collection, and once for our MySites collection.  Really annoying.

    How do I disable this behavior for local office documents that have nothing to do with SP?
