vista could not receives IPv6 address from DHCPv6 server on windows 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Recently, I tried to build a testing environment to test our product in IPv6 network. I use windows2008 as a server which installed DHCPv6 and use a vista as a client. Both two machines are vmware virtual machines.

Now, only the windows 2008 could receive IPv6 address from DHCPv6 server which is running on itself. But vista could not.

I ran command netsh interface ipv6 set interface local advertise=enabled managedaddress=enabled on both windows 2008 and the vista.

Both windows 2008 and vista firewall are all off.

Both two vm could ping each other through IPv4.

windows 2008 could ping vista using vista's link local address...

It's so weird that vista could not receive IPv6 address....... Is there any special configuraiton need to set for DHCPv6 or for the vista client?

Hope someone could resolve my issue...

    Thanks in advance!

  • Figure it out by myself.

After configure a static IPv6 address for DHCPv6 server manually, both server and client could get IPv6 address from DHCPv6 server.
