Computer and printer will not communicate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried adding the printer on to the computer. All has been installed. Now the computer will not communicate with the printer. I have restarted the printer as well as the computer. I have even used a usb cord to connect the two. I have also gone in and made sure that everything was set on the correct printer. This has caused a huge headache for me as I need to be able to print off for reports for work etc. The printer works with one computer but not the other. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Answers

  • I suppose the printer is in "Use Printer Offline" (checked).
If so, please try to delete the printer and install the printer driver.

    1. delete a printer
Control Panel -- (Hardware) Devices and Printers

    2. install driver
use a CD-ROM bundled with the printer, or download maker's web site.

  • Hi nicolegm,

Firstly, we could try use the system troubleshooting tool to check.

Open the Control Panel>Troubleshooting>Hardware and Sound>Printer.

Then I suggest that we could try the following steps to check.

    1. Turned on network discovery, file and printer sharing, and public folder sharing.
    2. Re-Install the Windows 8.1 printer driver from the printer manufacturer’s official website.
    3. Stopped and started the spooler service.

Hope it will be helpful to you
