change DPM server domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to change the domain of the DPM server or change the domains of the protected servers?  We are consolidating down 20 domains into a single new forest and I am trying to figure out how to approach this for our DPM server.

    Thanks

  • HI Earl T!

The DPM database (DPMDB) is very static. You cannot change the domain of the DPM server or change the DPM servers name.

I your case I think you should considering a trust relationship or backing up information with the new features to backup utrusted domains.

  • There is a trust that exists but the problem is the domain the dpm server is in will be going away.  I was hoping there was a way to do this but I guess not.

  • You can't change the domain for the DPM server.

Look into the operatinosguide for DPM2010 if there is any way of possibly scenarios for you: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=58ED28C3-252A-452B-B6E1-992BD56CEDE0
