Move only 1 response group from a pool to another. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

I'm trying to move only one RG from a pool to another and I'm using this cmdlet:

    Export-CsRgsConfiguration -source "service:ApplicationServer:Lync-DE02.schaeffler.com/7dff23f1-2ad8-456f-ad30-bf45dfd87244"  -Filename "C:\Users\admmozapul\Desktop\RGS.zip"

The identity of the RG I want to move is:

    Identity               : service:ApplicationServer:Lync-DE02.schaeffler.com/7dff23f1-2ad8-456f-ad30-bf45dfd87244

Even though I'm using this specific identity the exported file contains all the RGs.

Based on the technet article we should be able to move only one instance:

    Source

    Required

    Microsoft.Rtc.Rgs.Management.RgsIdentity

Identity of the Response Group instance whose configuration settings are being exported. For example:

    -Source "ApplicationServer:atl-rgs-001.litwareinc.com"

    Thank you.

  • Hi MozaP,

    Thanks for your response.

Based on my research, there is no method to export one of the response group of the pool so far, it is not supported. Regarding this issue, we suggest you provide feedback with the following link, we will collect all your information and improve our product.

  • Hi MozaP,

Based on my research, if you want to move response group, you need to run this command in SFB management pool to export response groups in the source pool:
    Export-CsRgsConfiguration -Source "service:ApplicationServer:<source FQDN>" -FileName "<export file name>"

Then import the response groups to the destination pool and assign the destination pool as the new owner, for more details, please refer to
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205298%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205298%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx

This command Export-CsRgsConfiguration means exporting the Response Group configuration settings from the pool atl-rgs-001.litwareinc.com to a file with the path C:\Exports\Rgs.zip, because this command includes the pool FQDN, so in my opinion, after you run this command, it will export all response groups in your SFB pool.

Hope this reply is helpful to you.

  • Yes, This is what I also experienced. The exported file contains all the RGs. Apparently there is not way to move only one RG. Just to recreate it on the other pool.
