Another One-Time-Password Email Gate Question? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Ether,

    Hopefully this is a fairly simply request but have been hunting for this for awhile and coming up with nothing. How/where do I change the from email address for the OTP email gate notification?

    I have been hunting through config files and reg entries on the portal and service servers but can't find where I can change this.

  • Warks,

    According to, the email addresses are stored in an user attribute in the portal called msidmOneTimePasswordEmailAddress. You can only access this attribute via Advanced View->Extended Attributes tab by default.

  • Thanks for that, that will be very useful for something else I am working on.

    However that wasn't actually what I was referring to. What I mean is the email address that the end user receives the OTP code email from. i.e. the user enters their own personal email address to which they receive an email with the code from the bim service email address. It is the bim service email address that I would like to change.

  • Warks,

    Ok, I believe you are referring to the value in the MIcrosoft.ResourceManagement.exe.config file. Its toward the top of the file. If using SMTP service it will just be something like ''. If wanting to take advantage of Exchange features such as group management Outlook add-in or FIM approvals through Outlook, the value would be similar to ''.

  • Thanks for the quick response! Yep that is where I thought it was configured as well, but I have changed this value and done a bunch of IIS and  Service restarts, emails still coming from the originally configured email address

        <!-- Setup adds entries -->
        <add key="mailServer" value="" />
        <add key="isExchange" value="1" />
        <add key="sendAsAddress" value="" />
        <add key="synchronizationServerName" value="XYZ123" />
