Is there a GLOBAL settings for explorer like in XP and ALL before RRS feed

  • Question

  • Old timer here, I need to know if MS intends to fix the explorer so that when I set the width of a column I can then go to the folder options and click on the button that made it do it GLOBALLY ?  why is the button greyed out no matter what I change it won't become active, WHY on earth make this new OS  less friendly?

I'm getting a lot of pressure from my family to upgrade all 8 machines to 7, but I refuse to do it until the Explorer is restored to it's former glory.

Hope I can get some good news from someone in here, because i have looked all over and can not find it. 4 of the machines in this house came with Vista and are currently running XP because of the explorer it is too annoying. maybe , how about making a powertoys that lets user do it that know how to re-install the OS.

UPDATE: Win 7  it still does NOT work from folder options in control panel, but to my HAPPY surprise it did work from within the Explorer Organize - Folder and Search options
