Setting DesktopBackground in Unattend.xml RRS feed

  • Question

  • I upgraded to MDT 2013 update 1 today. Built a new task sequence for my existing Windows 8.1 image. Ran a test deployment and everything seems to have worked just fine, however the Theme did not get set.

I set my theme using the unattend file, in the oobeSystem pass by adding Themes to Windows-Shell-Setup. I then specify the background, theme name and window color. It previously worked to set a "default" theme in this manner, but now it didn't. Anyone else run into this? I couldn't find any typos in my unattend file. I'll test more as I rebuild my other task sequences over the next few days.

  • Well I had more time to test and figured it out. Before the upgrade I used to add Themes to the reference image and then set the theme in the unattend file. But one thing I was doing was using a name that already existed, but it was never an issue as Windows would just duplicate the name. It didn't work this time, so I simply changed the theme name in the unattend file and that worked.
