  • No, you can only restore at mailbox level not item-level. Though after you have restored the mailbox you can preform several Exchange tasks within Exchange PowerShell.

  • Hi,

to restore a mailbox using powershell try this : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dpmexchbackup/thread/0fbc3b4e-b85f-4e69-928b-5d37bf4da7a5/

But you could also use a 3rd party product such as MailRetriever for DPM! by appassure (http://www.appassure.com)

    Hi jeremy,

What I want to restore is a single email item, I've already know DPM can restore mailbox. nope, I don't want to buy another third party for DPM.

  • Hi

The TechNet link will cover restoring procedure for Exchage 2003 and Exchange 2007. This is how you do it in Exchange 2010:

    1. Open EMS (Exchange Management Shell) on your Exchange 2010 server.
    2. Create a RDB (Recovery Mailbox Database) by typing: New-MailboxDatabase –Recovery –Name RDB –Server "Exchange-Server-Name"
    3. Restore your Exchange mailbox to the RDB
    4. In EMS "attatch" the restored mailbox to a Alias by typing: Restore-Mailbox -Identity adam -RecoveryDatabase RDB where adam is the user
    5. Answer yes on the question
    6. Youre done!
