Windows 2008 R2 - Error on Roles and Features RRS feed

    Hi, I am also encountering errors in features and roles and noticed this error occured due to a corruption in the packages folder as Windows was installing some Windows Updates in the background whilst I was installing SQL 2005 Express.

    I have run the readiness tool and encountered a couple of corrupt and a couple of missing packages, I attempted to download, extract, take ownership and permissions, rename the update files and replace the respective files in the package folder as per MS KB article, but the problem still persist.

    Any help is appreciated

    Hi Shawn,

     

    Can you install SQL 2005 without installing updates in the background?

     

    Can you install updates successfully?

     

    Please paste the result in %windir%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.
