Issue installing applications when specific platforms are checked RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is anyone else having an issue installing apps on certain platforms?

I've set certain apps to only install on windows 8 and 8.1 machines but they are not installing

Here is the output of ztiapplications for one of the applications:

as you can see there is no mention of any condition checking for Windows 8.1 (6.3) and as such the app is not installed on any of our Windows 8.1 machines.

  • Turns out the ztiapplications script in this deployment point was an older version. Even though I upgraded the share the files were not updated (even though version.xml was correct).

I dropped the version number in the xml and forced another upgrade. This time the scripts updated to the latest version and everything works again.

  • I believe you should look in smsts.log instead.

  • There's nothing in there to point to the individual app installs.

I'm really sorry. Smsts.log show only operands for the task sequence.

Both bdd.log and ztiapplications.log should have the entries you are asking about. Hope someone else pick this up. If not I will look at this next week.

  • What do you get for result if you run this script?

    strComputer = "."
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
    Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_OperatingSystem",,48)
    Dim objItem 'as Win32_OperatingSystem
    For Each objItem in colItems
    	WScript.Echo "Version: " & objItem.Version
    	WScript.Echo "OSType: " & objItem.OSType
    	WScript.Echo "ProductType: " & objItem.ProductType
    	WScript.Echo ""
    Next

Hi there, I've got the same problem. Can you be a little more specific on what you have done to fix it? Thank you very much.

  • in the control folder there is a version.xml file. edit the file and lower the version number within the file. Then re-open the deployment share in workbench and select the upgrade option.
