Bulk Resources into PWA Project Server , User Logon Account RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I would really appreciate anyone who could reply answering the following:

I have 100+ new resources to add to Project Server 2013.

I've tried Check-Out Resource, after clicking on Open button from Resouces in PWA.

But, the "User Logon Account" is not editable. I'd like to make it editable in order to type directly the data in the format "i:0#.w|" <domainName>\<userID>

    Two questions:

How can I make User Logon Account field in Check-Out Resources plan editable?

Is this the correct process to bulk new resources, what more steps am I missing?

    Regards,

    Iñaki

  • Hi,

    1. In Resource Center, you can select the resources and edit them one by one / bulk edit them - that time User logon account field is editable and can be changed as required.

    2. There is OOTB process for creating new resources in a bulk.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Came across one post today. This should help you bulk adding resources :

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/356657af-fb14-4e2a-b571-e3331e2f20c1/add-bulk-users-to-project-server-2010-using-a-script?forum=project2010custprog

    It states below approach --

If these users are also resources, you don't need a script to add them to project server.

    • Go to PWA and open Resource Center
    • Do not select any resources (if resources are selected, deselect them)
    • Click the Open button on the Ribbon
    • The Enterprise Resource Pool opens in Microsoft Project
    • Now you can copy paste the users from an Excel file into the Enterprise Resource (you can also import them from Excel, csv by using File -> Open and define an import map). Important! Make sure to add the exact same columns in the Resource Sheet as in the source file from which you are copying.
    • Make sure to add the field 'Windows User Account'! If you enter the User Account into this field, the resource will automatically become a user in Project Server. If you leave the field empty for a resource, it will become a resource only, and not a user.

If you want to add users only (not resources) you can take a a look at AD sync of you need to write your own importer in PSI.

    Thanks
