What are the differences between Basic and Advanced integrations of R and Python in SQL Server 2017 Machine Learning Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I would like to learn the differences between Basic and Adv. Integrations of R and Python on SQL Server ML Services.

The link below only refers to limitation on the number of cores, dataset sizes and in-memory datasets.

Is there any other reference/document/URL citing differences in a detailed manner? We are trying to decide whether we should go for Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/tr-tr/sql/sql-server/editions-and-components-of-sql-server-2017?view=sql-server-2017

    - Basic integration is limited to 2 cores and in-memory data sets.
    -
Advanced integration can use all available cores for parallel processing of data sets at any size subject to hardware limits.

Licensing cost is an important consideration for the firm. If we are going to find same Python and R libraries, we would like to go with the Standard edition.  I appreciate if you can point us to the right direction.

    Regards,

    Mehmet
