Directing downloads RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use both IE and Firefox.  With Firefox I can click Tools>Options>General and select to either have all downloads sent to a specific location (in my case I use Desktop for that location) or to ask me each time where I want the download sent.

I cannot figure out how to accomplish the same thing with IE10.  I want to send each download to a different folder on my hard drive.  Is there an option where I can tell IE10 to always ask where I want the download sent?  It's probably just me.  I'm an old fart (74) and pretty much a computer dummy.  Please help.

  • Hi,

In all versions you can open ie and use Ctrl+J to open the downloads folder,

Or Gear symbol on the top right and View Downloads,

On the bottom left you'll see options listed and the process is the same ;)

Every time you start a download a popup will appear on the bottom,

There's a "^" symbol next to Save click on it and use Save As and the normal menu will appear,

You can also when you download stuff,

Right click on the download link and use Save Target As and you'll see the "save where" dialogs and can skip the bottom popup prompts :)
