DPM 2016 Installation from DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried searching for this answer but surprisingly it hasn't been found.

I am replacing DPM 2012 R2 with DPM 2016 on a new server. I am going to keep the 2012 R2 DPM server for 30 days before removing completely from my domain. My question is, what is an easy way to remove the DPM 2012 R2 Protection Agent and replace it with the 2016 Agent?

I tried to push the 2016 Agent to a machine that has 2012 Agent installed but I get error 337 when trying to install it.

I suspect there is a permission issue somewhere because I uninstalled the agent from the 2012 DPM server and ran the install of the 2016 agent and received same error.

    Error: 337

: You cannot install the protection agent on CLAADMDEP01.clearent.lan because access to the computer has been denied.

I am using my Domain Admin account as well so I do not know what I am missing at this point.

  • I resolve this issue manually.

I removed the protection groups from DPM 2012, uninstalled the agent from the Management tab>Agents, Rebooted servers, then installed the DPM 2016 agent.
