VPN - 5 minute timeout RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using Windows 8.1 phones in a corporate environment, and I'm trying to establish an 'always on' VPN connection back to base. At the moment, I'm connecting successfully using the Pulse client, but after 5 minutes of idle time, the traffic flow stops. Can anyone help with this problem?

The phone and the VPN server both show the connection is up, but it doesn't work. To re-establish connection, I need to disconnect and reconnect.

If I keep using the connection (eg constantly re-synch emails or use the Intranet) the connection stays up.

I noticed the other day that the connection seems to stay up if the phone is on charge (although this may be a red herring). If it is true, I felt similar to the PC setting 'allow the PC to switch the network card off to save power' - but I don't know if the phone has such a setting, or if it is possible to 'untick' it like you do on PCs?

    Can anyone help?
