SCCM 2012 Secondary Sites Inquery RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dears,

i have a confusion about the SCCM 2012 hierarchy regarding the secondary sites. the last time i was looking at the planning guide on technet secodary sites could only be tiered under CAS when the hierarchy has one, and couldn't be able to be tiered under a primary site unless it's a stand alone hierarchy without CAS. today i found that even with a CAS, secondary sites must be tiered under primary sites and not the CAS. son now i want a clarification please. what is the right hierarchy design??????

  • Nothing has changed when it comes to secondaries, The always had to be child sites of primary sites, never a CAS. And a CAS is most likely only needed in large scale deployments (>100k clients).

  • I concur with Torsten.

Also, since you mentioned tiering of secondaries, if you are refering to content routing, it's important to point out that this is only for content (as implied by the term content routing), can only be done by secondaries that share the same primary as a parent, and can only be done one-level deep.
