DPM 2019 - chaining question - long term using LTO to DPM02 directly from DPM01 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I have a question about the DPM 2019 architecture
The first Datacenter is DPM01 which does a backup of the resources to the array of disks (short-term)
Is it possible for the second Datacenter to be DPM02 and back up DPM01 (long-term) directly to LTO tape via the network? or maybe I need to provide some temporary storage?

    Regards,

  • Hi,

No, it is not possible. Secondary DPM server need to have exact same protection enabled as Primary DPM server. If primary DPM server has D-D-T backup, then Secondary will also have the same protection. It is because, Secondary DPM server is suppose to take over Primary DPM server Protections if it goes down, so the Protection group settings needs to be exactly the same in the secondary DPM server.
