MOSS 2007 - MySite Profiles 404 not found after restoring SSP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I accidently deleted my SSP. It contains 15,000 MySites spread over 3 content databases. I resotred the SSP using stsadm -restoressp. The command requested me the MySite Host URL, which I provided, and then I got an error saying that the site collection already contains sits (isn't that the point?).

I created a new web application to be the temprary MySite Host and the command worked. I then changed the MySite Host through the SSP. Even after the change, I get "Error 404 not found" on the user profiles.

I googled it and found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924399.

This describes my problem except the cause is different. I did not change my MySite Host address so it should work.

Am I missing something here? How can I solve this?

  • Ok, solved it myself.

The restoressp command messed up the My Site Host. Deleteting the site and recreating it fixed the problem.
