Software Restriction Policy unrestricted rule

    Question

  • Hi Experts,

I have made a rule that block all executables in the App Data folder for example

    %AppData%\*\* ----- Disallowed

    %AppData%\*\*.exe ----- Disallowed

Now I want to enable running all the files in a folder in the AppData\Roaming\Temp

    I have made this rule...

    %AppData%\Roaming\BitTorrent\*.* ---- Unrestricted

will the above mentioned rule allows all the files to run in the BitTorrent folder...???

    Thank You.

  • Hi,

Before going further, the variable %appdata% corresponds to appdata\roaming folder.

For we have a Disallowed path rule for %AppData%\*\*.exe, the Unrestricted path rule %appdata%\BitTorrent\*.exe will be ineffective. If we want to allow an exe under \BitTorrent to run, we need to explicitly add a Unrestricted path rule for the exe.
