And it seems I broke it RRS feed

  • Question

  • What services other than the steady state services are needed to work.  I was trying to tweak up the login speed by disabling unnessecary services.  Since then vcfservice has begun crashing as soon as I boot.  Is there a list of required services that need to be active for vcfservice to work properly?

  • Hi,

SteadyState has two services.  The first, "Windows SteadyState Service" runs all the time.  The second, VCFService, only runs if Windows Disk Protection is installed.

Both of those have some other dependencies which are installed by default on a typical XP machine.  You didn't disable the Windows Management Instrumentation (winmgmt) service, did you?
