  • Question

  • I have project 2007 db and sp2010+project2010 server.

No preupgrade check was made on 2007 project server.

When tryingto attach this db with

    stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://locahlost:777 -databasename WSS_Content_Project_SPB

it begins counting, but after ~ 4 % it turns quick 100 % and then says that operation can not be undone.

After this DB is connected but with no sites recognized by project server 2010 in it.

What can i do to diagnose this problem?

  • I suspect two things. http://localhost:777 already contains a database, that already has a site collection '/', so the upgrade failed due to conflict.

(Or) the upgrade failed due to an Orphan/corrupted site/site collection.

I would recommend to Analyze the upgrade.log to identify the reason for the failure.

Take a backup of your 2007 content database and restore it on different name again, Later create new web application with new content database. Remove that new content database. Later run the same command attach the restored copy of the content database with the newly created web application, observe the behaviour.

  • Thank you.

There was no \ site, but analyzing upgrade.log lead me to this critical error:

[STSADM] [SPContentDatabaseSequence] [ERROR] [20.12.2010 15:42:29]: Exception: The transaction log for database 'Project_Content_1' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases

    Now fixing.
