  • You don't need to activate anything, but it won't show up everywhere.  There is some minimum threshold value that it needs to exceed before it shows.  There can also be a delay before it will show.

  • That View is how many times that document was viewed by unique users.  It is populated by the usage reporting system working in conjunction with search.  As long as the Usage service is started and running and the Search service has been crawling it should eventually appear.

  • Hi Paul

Somehow I see this "View" in one document library only - do I have to activate something so this is available in all other document libraries?

    Thanks.

  • As Paul has mentioned above, "View"shows the number of page views, document views, or item views on SharePoint server.

Here is an informative resource https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/132283-how-to-find-most-visited-sites-with-number-of-view-counts-in-sharepoint-2013 which provides step-wise instructions to understand, how to view the popularity trends report and the most popular items report generated by the SharePoint Analytics Processing Component.

Also, please check this another informative TechNet article - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/jj715890.aspx

  • The views value is actually generated by the SharePoint Analytics Processing Component. The values take time to replicate as it depends on the analytics and search. You may need to wait for some time after you add documents to your new library.
