Upgraded To Windows 7 Prof from Windows Vista Business (both 32 bit) and iTunes cannot securely access the iTunes Store RRS feed

  • Question

  • I ran the compatibility wizard, followed the instructions on de-authorizing the computer through iTunes.  Then used the installation disk to upgrade.  Once upgraded I went to re-authorize the computer through iTunes but could not connect to the iTunes stores.  Ran the diagnostic, it said that I could not establish a secure connection, it also said this:

    Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall.

Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.

I tried deactivating my antivirus, my firewall too.  Still could not access iTunes store.  At this point I restored my backup image to resume using Vista because I needed to work and keep my schedule on my iPhone and Outlook 2007.

The next day I tried installing Windows 7 again.  Prior to doing this I de-authorized my computer through iTunes, uninstalled iTunes, rebooted my computer and started the upgrade process.  Once upgraded I found that IE8 could not open webpages.  Mozilla Firefox could.  Downloaded the newest version of iTunes.  Installed it, it still could not connect to the iTunes store.  Tried turning off firewall again, tried turning off antivirus etc.  No luck.

I have posted in the Windows 7 community and Apple Community.  Some people have had this problem but there seems to be no actual fix. If anyone could help that would be great.  Thank you.

  • Hello Everyone,
My problem is resolved.  I could not effectively upgrade to Windows 7 and use iTunes so,

    I backed up my data.
    Did a clean install.
Downloaded itunes, tested it and it worked as did IE 8 which I was having problems with.
Loaded my old data back onto the computer using windows easy transfer.
iTunes and IE 8 STOPPED working.
I went into Internet Options, Advanced and Reset my IE 8 Options.
    Everything then worked.
Not sure of the logic but it works.
    Thanks for the help.
