This is a new one for me -
I need to restore a mailbox from a 6 month old backup. Problem is that I don't know which database the mailbox was in.
Any ideas for logs or tools that might help me determine which database to restore.
Searching through ADSI, I find homemdb distinguished name. This is the mailbox db name.
So, I can't get it straight from exchange but I can with AD attributes.
I dont' think so.
Once the backup is done log files get truncated unless you are backing up the logs separately.

I have made some progress but still need more info. I searched AD backups for user, found the latest account and restored it. In ADSI I can see the msexchmailboxguid attribute. Now I need to convert this to the guid that I see for mbdbs.
