Manage GPO for IE 11

    Question

  • Hi All,

Our organisation has decided to upgrade IE version from 9 to 11 on our user's systems. We use Server 2008 R2 standard SP1 to manage GPO, on GPMC console IE 8 is installed.

As we have decided to upgrade version of IE from 9 to 11, what are all changes we will to have make in our current environment in order to keep our existing policies( IE related policies) working normally.

Please let me know how can achieve this task..

  • This depends on where your IE This depends on where your IE settings are stored. If they are in administrative templates, you are fine. If they are in Group Policy Preferences, you may need to create anupdated preference (or remove the version number check in the XML file). If they are in IE maintenance, you will need to move those settings over to administrative templates or GroupPolicy Preferences. This is a how-to on migrating your IE maintenance settings over: https://deployhappiness.com/tracking-down-rouge-cses-ie-maintenance-addition/
