  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

We have a Project Server 2013 environment , we are planning restore and as we are new we have very less clue about how to restore and what to restore, so can anybody help us with the planning for this, as we dont want to loose any data in case of any disaster.

  • Hi,

Are you talking about restoring or backing up? Because in order to restore, you need to have something backed up? In this case, are you refering to the complete farm or just specific projects?

If you are talking about backup:

I suggest you to configure the daily administrative backup which can be found in the Central Administration.

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj590896.aspx

This allows you setting which objects (projects, custom fields, security...) should be backed up, how many versions should be saved and at what time every day (usually during the night).

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

I am curious about what all database to take backup of and how? Do we have to take backup of all the databases or only few will do ?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

If you are looking just after the project server data then the project web app database and the SharePoint content database hosting you PWA site collection should be enough to backup.

At the end it depends on your disaster recovery scenario.

    Hope this helps
