HIS 2010 Dedicated 3270 file transfer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our supported customer recently installed new BizTalk 2010 servers with SNA Manager for dedicated 3270 Display sessions. We are configured to use SNAIP (HPR/IP) for the Link Configuration with Enterprise Extender on the Mainframe.

    During initial testing, the customer XP workstations were configured with HIS2009 SNA, and Rumba 8.1 .... We successfully tested the Rumba Send / Receive function to upload/download files from XP workstation to/from z/OS mainframe with this configuration, and also tested a Windows7 workstation successfully using HIS2009 on workstation.

    Customer is now testing WIN7 using HIS2010 on workstation, and while able to download from Mainframe to the workstation, customer is unable to upload files from PC to mainframe (appears to time-out, no error message displayed).

    Two part general question;

    1. Are there any settings/configuration on the BizTalk 2010 HIS SNA Manager that would control the transfer of files between External PC and the mainframe ?? I am under assumption that file transfer thru HIS2010 is managed by the emulator transfer settings once session is established.

    2. Are there any known issues with Rumba Send/Receive with dedicated 3270 LU's for HIS 2010 SNA Manager (possible differences from HIS2004 (without Enterprise Extender) which is still in place and working fine for PC's with SNA 4.0) ??

  • In regards to your questions:

    1. No, There shouldn't be anything that needs to be changed in SNA Manager for the HIS configuration that would impact file transfer functions provided by a 3270 emulator.

    2. We are not aware of any issues with Rumba and HIS 2010.

    If this works with HIS 2009, it should work the same with HIS 2010. If it is not, then I would suggest that you open a support case so that we can gather diagnostics and have a look at what is happening when you try the upload.

    As a quick step, you could try applying the just released HIS 2010 Cumulative Update 5 (CU5) that includes all of the fixes that we have released for HIS 2010 since its initial release. If you try this, you'd want to apply CU5 on the client and the server.

  • Thanks Stephen for the confirmation. We will work with the customer to verify the settings on their WIN7 workstations, and the Rumba settings for file transfer.
