  • I have been asked to prepare a server administration procedure for file server which must include aspects of configuration management , change control and capacity planning.

    Can anyone highlight what should the procedure cover ?

    Its an assignment so no specifications about server have been provided.

    Pertaining to the above questions. You may want to check

    1) How many users are accessing the file server?

    2) Any potential data growth ?

    3) Budget ?

    4) hard disk sizing guide can be obtain from any storage vendor :)

    5) quota management for each department.

    6) Is this setup to replace existing file server ? or new setup ?
