Windows VL Edition HELP!!!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to download Office 2013 to a single laptop (with W8) for a small non-profit.  I have the license info and keys.  I DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR KNOWLEDGE to chase links all over this website trying to download it. I can't even find a 'FORUM CATEGORY' below that fits.  Can someone please give me the layman's explanation of what I need to do about this error message:

Windows edition detected is not a VL edition.  Microsoft Office 2013 Volume License Pack requires a Windows VL edition.

    Thank you!

  • You've downloaded the wrong version of Office 2013 (Office 2013 Professional Plus with Volume licensing )

Different license activate the different version of Office product, please make sure the type of your license and then download the right Office version for activatation.

    Activate Office 2013 programs:

In addition, we may also contact Microsoft Customer Service to solve the problem related to activation.

Windows edition detected is not a VL edition.  Microsoft Office 2013 Volume License Pack requires a Windows VL edition.

This message suggests that you have downloaded the VL Pack (from the MS download centre). The VL Pack is not what you need. The VL Pack is used if you wish to setup a "mass" activation service on your company/organisation network (the service is called a KMS Host). This is not what you need.

If you wish to setup a single laptop with Office2013, and you need to download/install the software, you will have been given some form of web/online logon to access the benefit/download. (or you will have been given a disc).

The details of the download address/location will be in the information you've been given (paperwork or packaging), or within the email you have been sent.

Depending on the method used to acquire Office, there are several different editions, and there are different installation methods for each edition.
