copy list item to New folder in Allitem.aspx page RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have many List items that users insert in sharepoint list and I want to push them in to New Folder to archive and organize them. In List settings-> advanced settings->set “Display New Folder command on the New Item” to “yes” and in New Item Menu select “New Folder”.

Now I want to push(copy) all record inserted in list to New Folder in Allitem.aspx.

Can you help me how I can do this?

    Thanx.

  • Hi,

If it is a library, we can use “Send to” operation, it is for one item each time.

    1.      Go to settings->list settings->Advanced settings, in the “Custom Send To Destination” part, type a Destination name, type URL “http://server/sites/sitename/libraryname/foldername”, click “OK”.

    2.      Click the drop down list of the list item, choose “Send to->Destination name”, click “OK”.

    3.      Do the same as 2 to other items.

If it is a common list and the site is a publish site. We can use the “move ” Action on site Content and Structure.

    1.      Go to Site Actions->Manage Content and Structure.

    2.      Choose the list, click the choice box of the items we need to add to the folder.

    3.      Click Actions->Move, choose the new folder.
