Windows 10 upgrade notification popup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Windows,

I do not wish to upgrade my Windows because I am happy with what i already have.  How do i stop this upgrade notification from popping up on my desktop forever?

PS:  Below step has been taken to stop notifications but it doesnt help, it only temporary.  The popup will happen again few hours later.

To hide the Get Windows 10 app and notifications about the upgrade:

    1.     Right-click (or press and hold) the Taskbar, and then select Properties.

    2.     On the Taskbar tab, select Customize… for the Notification area.

    3.     In the Notification Area Icons window, for the GWX (Get Windows 10) icon, select Hide icon and notifications.

Yes, I do not wish to receive any upgrade notifications for Windows 10 upgrade.  thank you very much :))

  • Hi,

As of the 29th of July Microsoft will discontinue the Windows 10 upgrade.
The Get Windows 10-app will be disabled/removed.

You can use some "exotic" work-arounds to disable this:

  • Hi owtongang,

The main issue is to disable the Windows Upgrade, right?
Here is a link for reference:
How to manage Windows 10 notification and upgrade options
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/3080351

    Add the following registry keys:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
    DWORD value: DisableOSUpgrade = 1
    HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx
    DWORD value: DisableGwx = 1
    Uninstall KB3035583 and hide it.

    Best regards
