unable to crawl a website using SSL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are developing an Intranet site for our organization, on SHarePoint 2010. We want to offer the users the possibility to search our old Intranet (an old asp site). So in The Central Admin I added the url to the old intranet as a content source, and defined appropriate crawl rules. The old intranet is available only through https. So I defined in the crawl rule to use the client certificate of the old intranet. But when starting a full crawl, we get the following error: Cannot find or access the client certificate specified for crawling this site.

It is strange, because we successfully crawled our old intranet on our Integration and acceptance SharePoint farms. The problem only appears on our production farm. This prod farm is composed of one web front-end and 2 application servers. I guess that client certificate should only be installed on the application servers, which are responsible for crawling, no?

Any help or URL to a good site would be really appreciated.
