    Hi Ladislav,

If the “fallback to unauthorized” network is checked, even if the wired client that is requesting 802.1X authenticated wired access fails 1x authentication, the dot3 service (Wired AutoConfig) will treat this as a successful authentication and indicate success to NDIS. If this setting was not checked, then upon 1x failure, the media state will be “Media Unauthenticated.” Typically, this setting will be checked by admins, if the 1x switch will put the wired client  in a default vlan upon 1x failure - as opposed to cutting off the client entirely.

  • What is the path to this checkbox, exactly? If I can show MS where it is, they will tell me what it does.

  • Rudi01, I am more than willing to assist you with this issue.  However, I believe that I could use some more information regarding your situation.  It appears that you are in the Network and Sharing Center.  Perhaps in the Adapter Properties.  Is this information correct?  Perhaps you are in the Network Properties of the Wired 802.1x network adapater?  Can you please verify this information for me please.  In addition if you would please provide a brief detailed description of the issue at hand.

    Thank you,
